When my parent's decided to take the plunge and redo their kitchen, I was quick to ask for their 1980's style cabinets for added storage in the garage. We had been pricing used cabinets on Craigslist and at the local Restore but the prices were always high and they never had exactly what we were looking for. My parent's have a fairly large kitchen which left us plenty of choices as far as cabinets go. Luckily, my dad use to own his own cabinet business so was able to help us with the actual install.
Along the right side of our garage, we installed 5 base cabinets( two doubles with a single in between) and six smaller upper cabinets so they were approximately the same length.
Pardon the walls, we get to them in another phase of our garage updates! |
After my dad's cabinet install, Tim got the idea to remove some random unused pegboard behind our water heater and reuse it. We trimmed out the area with wood (again salvaged from behind the old pegboard) and cut it to size.
We then cut the pegboard down to size and it attached it as two separate panels.
Yes, we have a TV in our garage. And sadly, it gets used just about every weekend while we are doing yard work or various other DIY projects. What can I say? We love TV.
My dad got Tim a bunch of new organizers for Christmas so this is what the work bench looks like today.
Next up... how we tackled the floors!
